Question by allhailzeppelin: Question for tech savvy iPhone owners?
A lot of sites, when visited through an iPhone, default to an “iPhone” or “mobile” version of the webpage. Is there an app/hack/jailbreak/etc that can get around that and have it go to the normal version of every site?

I do go to the normal URL (www.ebay.com for example), but it ~automatically~ takes me to the “.iphone” version.

On some, but not all, pages there is a link or button that says something like “Classic View” or “Standard View”; usually at the bottom of the page. There may be a hack via jailbrake to change the user-agent to fool the website to think you are on a standard computer, but that’s probably not worth it. Also, if you are Google searching and there is a site that redirects to a rubbish “mobile” view (one I can think of is IGN.com), by the page result press “options” and then “cached”. This should make it look like a standard web page.
